Can We Laugh?

Need a chuckle? Well go ahead and listen to the above selections...Enjoy!

The Wizard

So, today I went to see the Wizard. One key phrase that he used was, "You're between a rock and a hard place." WTF, over? We'll see how the next session goes...

Noah Pippin

The May issue of Outside was delivered to our home a few days ago. Outside is a really good magazine, one we have subscribed to for quite some time...if I don't read it right away my wife will abscond with it!

In the May issue author Mark Sundeen wrote a very long article about a Marine, Scott Pippin, who disappeared in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area in 2010. Here is a link to a newspaper article about Pippin:

The article was very good...but reading about Noah really hit me hard on a lot of different levels. Noah's story is the story for a lot of Iraq and Afghan vets. As a Marine I have a burden for other Marines, born out of our brotherhood- we call it Semper Fidelis, always faithful. Our motto carries with it a potentially heavy price. So, I have not been able to sleep well because I think of Noah and others like him. Pick up the May issue of Outside and read the article; it will be time well spent, however, be warned, it could have a profound impact!

First post.
Here goes...
I am 40 years old. I was an 0341 mortarman during Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Restore Hope (Somalia) and Iraqi Freedom.
0341 is the Marine Corps MOS code for mortarman.
Steel Rain is what we deliver; 81mm or 60mm.
aka High Angle Death.
Part of my motivation for this blog is to use it as an outlet. I do not know how often I will post since I don't like going into dark rooms that have nightmares inside...I reckon that I have moments of clarity of past events that I need to talk out/work out.

WARNING: You may come across some profanity from time to time.

I have a normal blog that you can view, "Iron Vaquero", located over on the linkage.
